Porsche 914 Horsepower & Torque:
1970 - 1973 1.7 Liter "W" or "EA" Engine Code
A Good Place to Start
The graph below is a composite of the horsepower and torque
curves for 1970-1973 Porsche 914 vehicles with the
1.7 liter four-cylinder "W" or "EA" coded engines. This was the initial
engine in the four-cylinder 914 cars, and was the production standard
for the longest period of time. The quasi-domed pistons
and higher compression ratio (8.2 : 1) give this engine decent
horsepower and a good amount of low-end torque. Additional information
regarding the
"W" and "EA" engines is located (not surprisingly) on the ENGINE
SPECIFICATIONS page.

Maximum rated horsepower (SAE-Net): 79 hp @ 4900 RPM
Maximum rated torque (SAE-Net): 98 ft-lbs @ 2700 RPM
